Get Started
Here's what you need to know to get started.
How It Works
Enrollment
Complete the annual enrollment form. This provides basic info we need to know ahead of introductions, and your preferences.
Intro Session
An Intro Session comes after Enrollment. You will need cleats, flat shoes, and water. We provide everything else. Plan to meet coaches, observe activities, play and take part however coaches feel is best. A director is usually on hand for Q&A.
City Soccer App
After your Intro Session, if City Soccer is a fit for you, then create your account on the City Soccer app. From there, set up your Orientation period.
Orientation Period
The Orientation period is one month. This assumes you will attend a minimum of four sessions. Orientation provides several important things for player to be ready for full Open Academy sessions. Our goal is to move players along as soon as possible. The coaching staff make the decision, based on performance in sessions.
Full Membership
Once Orientation is complete, your player is a full member of City Soccer and trains with the regular Open Academy groups. Ongoing participation is managed in the City Soccer app.
What to Expect
City Soccer is a community academy, not a competitive club. Our sessions focus on building understanding, ability, and desire to play the game. Players of all levels will find a fit with us.
Sessions are offered all week, just about every day of the year. Every player begins with intro and orientation, before joining peer players in full sessions.
Parents are welcomed to watch, but only players, coaches, and designated personnel may enter the playing area. We take this very seriously. Schedule changes and cancellations are not very common, while any updates or announcements will be communicated directly through the City Soccer app.
Please consider…
When you were a kid, a board-game was a toy. You and your friends played with the pieces. You made it up as you went along. It was fun, and that does count as playing.
Eventually, you learned what the board was for. Each piece has a name, role and a way of moving. You were beginning to understand, and probably had a favorite piece. You eventually realize the pieces can work together. There are openings, structures, trades, and turns. You begin to see a bigger picture, which changes how you think about each piece. You were beginning to understand how to play the game with others. In that way Soccer is a lot like chess, but more complex. All pieces move at once, each with its own thought process.
Many soccer players never pass the first stage. Or, they may continue to focus on their favorite piece, the current move or a single point. It all counts as playing, but the players do not understand the full picture and how to play with others.
We are here to help you see the full picture, to understand a really play the game. Our training is built on concepts and principles that allow players to make better decisions in a game that is always moving and changing. What we teach is crucial for players in the United States. Even for very experienced late-stage players, there is a lot to learn.
Player in our sessions can achieve a high level, together. This is possible when everyone shares an principle understanding. This is less possible when new players jump right into a full session; the full-picture and process is disrupted for everyone. The orientation period provides every player the introduction, information, and foundation they need to join in, keep up, and contribute productively in the sessions.
It is our goal to get players ready, and move players up as soon as they are ready. Orientation isn't about holding anyone back, but setting them up to realize and succeed.
